I Love Science Festival
The Earth is alive: It may seem static and dead, but beneath our feet, a dramatic story unfolds. Vast layers of mineral sediments move and rub against each other, forming mysterious folds, bursting apart, and creating secret homes for light-shy fauna and flora. Welcome to the hidden world of underground caves. Perhaps we can learn something from these hidden worlds?
In collaboration with the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Nyskaben & Phenomenal Viborg, Vrije Universiteit Brussel presents "Cave Walk," a multi-user virtual reality exploration of otherwise inaccessible worlds deep underground. More than 10 visitors can explore a virtual 3D scan of a real underground cave together and participate in science-based interactive stories about the incredible forces and hidden stories deep underground.
In this project, we will create a 3D scan of a real underground cave, enhance it with sound, stories, and interactive elements, and implement it in MUCO, our open-source platform for highly accessible, dynamic, and economically viable VR experiences in public spaces. This social VR experience offers engaging, full-body storytelling and playful, spectacular scenarios for families, friends, and school groups, all in an effort to innovate the way we experience museum exhibitions.
