Biography
Nerea Martinez Yarza holds a Bachelor degree in Primary Education from the University of the Basque Country and a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Nerea was a PhD candidate from Spain and undertook a research stay at our research group. Her doctoral dissertation examined the extent to which family involvement contributed to narrowing down inequalities in social-emotional learning amongst socioeconomically and ethnically diverse students. Family involvement was identified as a mechanism that could explain these differences in social-emotional learning between pupils from different socioeconomic backgrounds. The data collection was carried out through a questionnaire addressed to parents or primary caregivers and to children and adolescents from 8 to 17 years old.
