Frederic Jan Mednick
Biography
Dr. Mednick founded Teachers Without Borders (TWB) in 2000, in order to provide professional development for teacher leaders on a global scale. Today, Teachers Without Borders's membership and partnership network spans 184 countries. His research interests and global online courses focus on comparative education, information technology and teacher education, the connection between teacher professional development and social change, NGO entrepreneurship, education in emergencies, girls’ education, and education for peace and human rights. Dr. Mednick has served as the principal of two leading schools in Los Angeles and Seattle, and wrote “Rebel Without a Car: A Principal’s Guide to Adolescence.” On behalf of Cisco, he served as the PI on Millennium Development Goal projects for the Clinton Global Initiative. With support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, he developed open educational resources and teacher platforms adopted by Scholastic and Magazine and the Organization of American States. In 2018, Teachers Without Borders was awarded the Luxembourg Peace Prize and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Prize for the Advancement of Peace.
